The Chandigarh Administration on May 22, 2026, issued the Draft Chandigarh Legal Metrology (Enforcement) (2nd Amendment) Rules, 2026, further to amend the Chandigarh Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Rules, 2011.
The following has been amended:
• Under the amendment, verification and stamping of low-risk weights and measures will now be permitted through self-certification by applicants using the newly introduced Form A. For medium-risk and high-risk weights and measures, verification can be carried out based on third-party certification issued by licensed repairers through Form B.
• The amendment introduces Schedule XIII, prescribing detailed formats for self-certification and third-party certification, along with declarations regarding accuracy, compliance with the Legal Metrology Act, 2009, and liability for false certification.
• The last date for submitting objections or suggestions is June 06, 2026.
